Thoughts about Autumn Time in India

In News by Carla

Autumn time evokes images for me of crimson, orange and brown leaves crunching under your feet as you walk. October begins to usher in that imagery regardless of my physical location. I always think about home in Tennessee. Right now I am in India and the landscape colors are unseasonably green according to locals. The sand reminds me that I am in a dry arid place. I like to let you know what I am doing while I write. Right now I am tethered to the wall as my computer battery has recently ceased functioning. The night is creeping up on me and I know I need to go to bed soon!

Already October and one week in India we are now in the city we will be doing the bulk of filming in. All the women on the team, including me, have now acquired India clothing. Seeing everyone in new and very different clothing is pretty fun! The bus ride here was exciting! During the first bathroom break I almost got left at the stop—these stops are very brief. Then a few hours later the bus, traversing particularly uneven road somehow managed to break one of the back windows. The sound was that of an entire dish set seeming to crash on the ground. I found myself wondering why someone would have set a load of dishes on the top rack of the bus. Then I turned and saw what had really happened. Only one man’s leg was cut and that not too badly.
We will be doing casting and continuing audio recording this week. We have completed four of the eleven languages we aspire to do for the eleven unreached people groups. What an amazing journey with God each day holds!
